How do I sign up for a class?
You can sign up online through our website (see "schedule") or at the studio. While walk-ins are accepted, pre-registration is recommended to secure your spot.
What time should I arrive to class?
Please plan to arrive at the studio 10-15 minutes before your class is scheduled to start (but no earlier, as another class may still be in session!)
It’s always a good idea to arrive a little early for class: if you are a new student, you will need to register at the front desk and fill out a new-student waiver. But even if you are a regular, arriving 10-15 minutes early will ensure you can sign in, say hi to your friends, and get settled on your mat and be ready to roll on time when class begins.
That said: Due to both the layout of our studio and instructor availability, we generally can not accommodate students who arrive more than 15 minutes early (another class may be in session, or the instructor may still be preparing the space). If you are in the area and need a place to wait until class starts, we can't recommend our neighbor — Trish's Dishes — enough. We are also a short walk to the Leland Library or (weather permitting) Van's Beach.
What if I am running late to class?
If you’re running late, please let us know in advance. You can email the studio at info@lelandriverstudio.com or text Kat at (313) 549-0658. We allow a grace period of up to 5 minutes. If you’ll be later than that, we kindly ask that you skip this class and join us next time.
How does the waitlist work?
When class reservations hit max capacity, a waitlist will automatically start. If you sign-up for the waitlist, the system will automatically move you into the class if a spot opens up. We recommended opting into text messages so that you will know when that happens.
What is your cancellation policy?
We strive to offer a flexible and understanding cancellation policy to accommodate your needs. For most classes, cancellations made more than 2 hours in advance will be credited back to your account. We appreciate your consideration in canceling as soon as possible if you are unable to attend, as this helps us manage class schedules effectively.
For pilates reformer classes, cancellations must be made at least 12 hours in advance to receive a class credit. This helps us protect our instructors' time and allows other students the opportunity to book available spots.
If you were charged for a class you didn’t attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please email info@lelandriverstudio.com. We are always happy to discuss your situation and find a solution.
Do class packages have an expiration date?
Yes, all class packages at River Studio come with an expiration date to encourage consistent attendance and ensure availability for all members.
5-Class Package: Expires 90 days (3 months) from the date of purchase.
10-Class Package: Expires 5 months from the date of purchase.
How old do you have to be to participate in class?
You must be 16 years or older to participate in a class at River Studio. Children ages 12-15 are able to participate in class with a parent or guardian in attendance.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), but currently do not accept cash. We also accept gift cards (see below for more information).
How do I use my gift card?
Log in to your Momence account.
Select the class, package, or event you'd like to book and add it to your cart.
Proceed to the checkout page.
In the payment section, you’ll see an option to enter a ‘promo code.’ Though technically not a ‘promo code,’ this is where you should enter your gift card code.
Enter your gift card number and click Apply.
If the gift card covers the full amount, you can complete the transaction. If there’s a remaining balance, you can pay the difference using another payment method.
If you encounter any issues or your gift card isn’t working, please reach out to us at info@lelandriverstudio.com or send us a direct message via instagram @lelandriverstudio
Do you offer private yoga or pilates classes?
Yes, please email info@lelandriverstudio.com to schedule a private session.
Do you offer workshops or events?
Yes, we host a variety of workshops and special events throughout the year. Keep an eye on our Events page for updates.
What is your studio etiquette?
We have a list of etiquette guidelines on our website. In general, please arrive on time, silence your phone, and be respectful of others’ space.
Is there parking available?
There is a limited numbers of street parking spaces in front of our studio. In busier months, these spots can fill up fast — so please plan to arrive at the studio early enough to find parking. If there is not parking available in front of the studio, there generally is plenty of parking on both sides of the street just a short walk from the studio.
Which class should I sign up for if it's my first time?
Beginners are encouraged to start with a slow flow or gentle yoga class. Vinyasa is for a more advanced practice. We do ask that you sign up for the reformer pilates level that corresponds to your ability (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). Feel free to e-mail us at info@lelandriverstudio.com if you would like some direction on the right class for you.
Can I still practice yoga or pilates if I feel stiff or out of shape?
We often hear people say they are afraid they are not flexible or in-shape enough to jump into a yoga or pilates class for the first time. But guess what? We all felt the same way when we took our first class. The hardest part is getting onto your mat for the first time.
Our instructors are highly adept at modifying their classes to meet every level, and no one in our studio will judge you based on your ability. Whether you are a true beginner, have an injury, or are concerned about other physical limitations — please don't feel afraid to join a class for the first time. Talk to our instructors before class and they will give you modifications to meet you where you are, and will never push you past your comfort zone.
