Old Art Building, Leland
The Nature of It All
Rick Koehler, Royce Deans, and Angela Saxon bring their annual Leland art sale to the Old Art Building. Between them: oil paintings, monotypes and monoprints, collages, and poetry — work built from close observation of light, texture, and the spaces between forms in nature.
Saturday, September 5, 11am to 7pm. Sunday, September 6, 11am to 4pm.
Old Art Building, 111 S Main Street, Leland. Free, and everyone is welcome.
Meet the Artists
Rick Koehler — Oil Paintings
His work seeks to utilize light to emphasize his subject matter. “In the real world, light provides us the ability to see colors; in paintings, color provides us the ability to see light.” This is his constant challenge and goal.
Royce Deans — Paintings, Monoprints/Linotypes and Poetry
Developed from observation, his paintings, monotypes, and poetry explore the spaces between forms found in nature with expressions of texture, repetition, and layered color. He creates intimate compositions that portray the warmth and closeness of touch.
Angela Saxon — Monotypes, Collages and Paintings
Her work tells a visual story of looking at a particular subject in a particular time of day in the specific light that is present — she observes her subject in a collective way, taking time to see and understand as water moves, shadows change, light evolves.
